Zeke Gregory Death; ‘Baby Zeke’ Found Dead; Father Jeremy Best Taken Into Custody

Zeke Gregory Best, 10-month-old son of Jeremy Best, was found by hunters Saturday morning. He died.

According to a Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office news release, his father, Jeremy Best, was arrested for killing his pregnant wife and kidnapping Zeke.

According to the news release, hunters called Bonneville County Dispatch around 9:15 a.m. Saturday. The caller reported finding a man in a sleeping bag on the road.

“The caller stated the man was naked and making odd statements,” officials said.

Bonneville County Sheriff’s responded at Kepps Crossing Road near Dan Creek Road east of Idaho Falls. After speaking with the hunters, deputies recognized him as Jeremy Albert Best.

“Best was secured and placed in a patrol car until Idaho Falls Ambulance arrived to treat him for injuries,” officials said.

The black Chevy SUV Best drove was recovered nearby. Dead Zeke Best was found by deputies. Whether Zeke’s body was in the SUV is unknown.

Zeke’s death cause is unknown, Bonneville County Coroner Rick Taylor told EastIdahoNews.com. He will undergo a forensic autopsy in Boise before a decision.

The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Department responded. EMS evaluated Best on location and took him to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center by ambulance, according to a release. Best was transferred to the hospital for medical and mental health evaluation by a deputy who followed the ambulance.

What transpired at the hospital is unknown. EIRMC spokesperson Coleen Neimann said Best was released Thursday afternoon.

According to the Teton County Sheriff’s Office, the Best home called 911 around 11:40 p.m. Hearingbickering on the line, dispatcher summoned deputies to the house.

Kali Jean Randall, Best’s wife and Zeke’s mother, was dead when they arrived. Police believe Best fled with Zeke after killing Randall.

Around 4 a.m. Friday, Zeke was issued an Amber Alert. Ever since, state police had been searching for him and Best.

Best was booked into Bonneville County Jail for the Teton County homicide warrant after medical clearance. He will stay until arraignment.

“Our thoughts are with the family of the victims involved in this case,” officials stated.
