William Consovoy Obituary News: William Consovoy, a founding member of Consovoy McCarthy PLLC, has passed away. William Consovoy, 48, a lawyer in the Washington, D.C., region who supported conservative causes, passed away on Monday night, January 9, 2023.
His relatives surrounded him. All who knew him will miss the brilliant lawyer and even wonderful friend he was. He was a very accomplished writer and one of the most prominent activists of his period.
What happened to William Consovoy?
Consovoy was given a two-year diagnosis of brain cancer, according to his legal partner Thomas McCarthy, even though the cause of death has not yet been made public.
The legal profession admired Consovoy for his sharp analytical thinking. He was the most devoted of his pals and had a tremendous heart.
William Consovoy Career:
In Arlington, Virginia, Consovoy co-founded Consovoy McCarthy in 2014. The company, which has become well-known in Republican circles, counts the Republican National Committee and Republican state officials among its clientele. Consovoy and his company defended the former president in court proceedings against congressional subpoenas for his financial documents both during and after Trump’s administration.
He appeared before the U.S. Supreme Court on numerous occasions, and he was due to do so one again last fall in a lawsuit opposing the affirmative action practices at Harvard University. He left the proceedings and was replaced by another lawyer from his firm.
McCarthy and Consovoy formerly collaborated at the American legal firm Wiley Rein. Consovoy was involved in a case that challenged specific provisions of the Voting Rights Act, which resulted in a 2013 Supreme Court decision that struck down specific provisions of the historic law.
Tuesday, Consovoy was hailed to as “an extraordinary talent” by Dean Ken Randall of the Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University, where he also co-directed the Supreme Court clinic after earning his law degree there.
Consovoy worked as a legal assistant for Justice Clarence Thomas and Judge Edith Jones of the US 5th Circuit Court of Appeals.
