Vítor Godinho, midfielder and winger who represented Belenenses for 28 seasons has reportedly passed away. The former Portuguese player dies at the age of 78 on July 14, 2023.

Portuguese Football Federation also announced the passing of the icon, highlighting the course with the “cross of Christ on his chest”.

“Godinho left his mark on the emblem of Restelo, where he played for 28 seasons, 15 of them as a senior. The midfielder and winger totaled 285 matches with the symbol of the cross of Christ on his chest, having even represented Portugal on one occasion, at the service of the AA national team, ending his career at Sacavenense”, says the federation in a statement.
Belenenses also marked the death of Vitor Godinho, referring that even after he stopped playing, he remained in managerial roles at the club, having also collaborated with lectures to the youngest footballers.
“At this difficult time and on behalf of the entire Belenense family, the club’s governing bodies address all their family and friends, especially their two children, the most heartfelt condolences”, says Belenenses.
