Victor’s Obituary, Victor E. Greer Has Sadly Passed Away At 90

On Saturday, May 13, 2023, Victor E. Greer, 90, of Benton Harbor, went to be with the Lord at Corewell Health Lakeland. Pastor Jay Haynes will preside over a Homegoing Memorial Service on Friday, May 19, at 11 AM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Thirty minutes before the service at the funeral home, friends are welcome to visit with the family. Nathan & Gertrude (Gilliom) welcomed Victor into the world on August 22, 1932, at Potts Camp, Mississippi. He earned an associate’s degree in business from Lemoyne Owen College after graduating from Manassas High School in Memphis, Tennessee. During the Korean War, Victor proudly fought as a Marsksman in the United States Army and was honorably retired in 1958. After coming back home, he worked for Sears and Studebaker Packard Corp. He requested for and was granted a loan from Whirlpool in 1970 in order to start his own company, Durable Products Inc., in Benton Harbor. In addition, he owned other rental properties and Greer’s Auto Sales. Victor also held the office of 4th District Commissioner for Berrien County for a long time. He left Bosch in 2000 after a long career.

He wed Peggy Clabin on April 1, 1998, and she stood by his side for thirty-one years.

His first wife, LeeEster Greer, five siblings, and parents, Nathan and Gertrude, all passed away before him.
