Three People Charged with Second-Degree Murder in Nebraska for Fatal Stabbing
In connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred in Moncton early on Tuesday morning, three people have been charged with second-degree murder.
Megan Marten, 38, of Fredericton, Dylan Alexander Jackson, 28, of Doaktown, New Brunswick, and Dana Livingston Mundell, 49, of Bloomfield Ridge, New Brunswick, all appeared before the Moncton Law Courts late on Tuesday afternoon, according to Cpl. Stephan Esculier of the New Brunswick RCMP.
For the second-degree murder of Kyla Lapointe, 32, all three have been accused.
The group has been placed back in custody and will appear in court again on July 19 at 11 a.m.
Lapointe’s killing is being looked into by the RCMP’s serious crime branch after she was discovered on Belleview Avenue close to Mountain Road on Tuesday.
At 2:45 a.m., according to Esculier, police got a disturbance complaint in the city’s east end neighborhood.
When they got there, they saw a woman who had been stabbed numerous times on the sidewalk.
She was taken to the hospital, where she subsequently passed away from her wounds, according to Esculier.
Marten, Jackson, and Mundell were detained at the scene after police stopped a car that had been seen nearby in connection with the inquiry.
Esculier did not confirm whether the victim was acquainted with the three accused.
“At this point we can’t really speculate on the motive or if these people knew each other. It merely forms a portion of the inquiry. At this time, we are unable to discuss it, said Esculier.
The RCMP is requesting that locals or anybody traveling through the area at the time who may have seen the incident or has security footage get in touch with them.
