Thalia Chaverria has been identified as a New Mexico State University soccer player who sadly passed away. she was reportedly preparing for her junior year at the school when she passed away at age 20. May her soul rest in peace.
Thalia had just clocked 20 years old on July 2, 2023 when she sadly passed away, as she was found unconscious in her New Mexico home on Monday morning, July 10, 2023.
She was pronounced dead on the spot by emergency services, who was reportedly ready to begin her junior year at New Mexico State and her third season playing defenseman for the Aggies women’s soccer team.
New Mexico State Director of Athletics stated in a statement that “Yesterday we lost an incredible young woman and we are deeply saddened by the untimely passing of a member of our Aggie family,”
“Thalia had a vibrant personality and those lucky enough to spend time with her knew that she had a bright future ahead of her.”

Chaverria helped her team win its first conference title in school history after three shutout victories in the WAC Tournament her sophomore year. She also saw the fourth most time on the field among her teammates last season.
Head Coach Rob Baarts stated that“The sudden loss of Thalia has completely shaken the world of our Aggie soccer families,”
He further stated that “She was an inspiration and a rock for this team. We will miss her but we will not forget her. Her spirit will be with us every day, on and off the field. I will always love you T!”
A GoFundMe campaign was started by friend of the soccer player to raise money for her parents to transport her body from New Mexico to her hometown of Bakersfield, California.
Organizers wrote to the college students that “She was a sister to her two brothers to hers, a daughter and a loving canine mother to her fur babies,” “She was loved by many. Her long, beautiful curly hair and her smile will forever be etched in our memories.”
