Tenisha Butler Obituary News: 33-Year-Old Tenisha Butler Killed In Urbana grocery store shooting

Thirty-three-year-old Tenisha Butler was shot and killed on Saturday night inside the Giant grocery store located at 3530 Sugarloaf Parkway in Urbana.

Butler was discovered dead at the location by Frederick County Sheriff’s Office deputies who were responding to reports of the event at around 11:11 p.m.

After a quick search, the suspect—who was identified as the victim’s estranged husband, Frederick Owusu Sakyi—was taken into custody.

After a thorough investigation, it was discovered that Butler and Owusu Sakyi were going through a turbulent divorce, complete with protective orders and the suspect’s persistent stalking.

According to recent court documents, Sakyi was previously required by the legal system to turn over all firearms as a result of temporary protection orders.

These legal limitations did not stop the terrible incident that resulted in Butler’s premature death. A few hours later, Owusu Sakyi was arrested and brought to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center to be booked.

Deputies found an assault weapon on the back seat of his vehicle and a handgun on the front seat when they were apprehending him. The circumstances surrounding this tragic tragedy are being carefully investigated by the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office.
