At 6:45 a.m., troopers from the Texas State Highway Patrol responded to a call of a collision on State Highway 144, which is located approximately four miles south of Glen Rose. The Texas Department of Public Safety provided this information.

Sgt. Gibson was driving his investigator truck northbound on State Highway 144 when a white Ford F-150 pickup truck moving southbound lost control and crashed with his vehicle. According to the officials, this all happened at the same time. Sgt. Gibson was a victim of the incident and died as a result of his injuries, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
