Sally Blundell Obituary News: Tragic Accident in Norfolk Funeral Home Claimed life of a 58-year-old Undertaker
Sally Blundell passed away at the East of England Co-op Funeral Services location in Swaffham after what is believed to have been an incident involving a hoist for lifting.
The medical cause of her death was revealed during the opening of the inquest on Thursday.
Mrs. Blundell’s occupation as “funeral administrator” was disclosed to the court, and her coworkers at East of England Co-op led tributes to her after the trial.
She oversaw an Attleborough location throughout her nearly ten-year tenure at the company.
“We are deeply saddened by the death of our colleague and friend Sally Blundell,” an East of England Co-op spokeswoman said.
“Sally spent more than eight years working for our cooperative, and both her coworkers and the people in and around Swaffham will sincerely miss her caring and expertise…First and foremost in our mind are Sally’s family and friends – we offer them our deepest condolences.”
The Market Place branch was shuttered for several days following the incident on December 1.
The situation, which Co-op referred to as a “tragic accident,” is still being looked into; Breckland Council health and safety officers have started an investigation.
Senior coroner for Norfolk Jacqueline Lake read out information handed to the court by her daughter, Lucy Blundell, during the brief hearing at County Hall.
These verified Mrs. Blundell resided in The Street, Great Cressingham, close to Watton, and was born in Norwich.
Laszlo Igali, a pathologist, diagnosed her condition as “contusion and compression of the chest by an external object”.
