Rushton Road Car Accident: A devastating incident shook Aiken County as the Coroner’s Office confirmed the identities of the victims involved in a fatal car accident. Christopher Register, 37, and his wife, Rachel Register, 29, both from Columbia, tragically lost their lives in a collision between their 2018 Toyota Corolla and a school bus at the intersection of Wrights Mill Road and Rushton Road.
The collision occurred as the Register couple traveled north on Rushton Road, intersecting with an eastbound school bus on Wrights Mill Road. Despite the immediate response, the couple succumbed to the impact and were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Coroner Darryl Ables disclosed that autopsies were conducted the following morning in Newberry County as the investigation continues in collaboration with the Aiken County Coroner’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol.
