Alan Pound and Ronnie McEnturff, were driving home to Texas after attending the ‘Goodguys Rod & Custom Association’ event in Columbus, Ohio this past weekend.

Additional information on a crash that occurred on Interstate 65 early on Sunday has been published by the Kentucky State Police.

According to KSP, it received a call of a tragic crash that happened on Sunday about 11 a.m. on I-65 southbound close to milepost 12. Troopers from KSP Post 3 arrived on the site and started a preliminary investigation.

Authorities claim that Alan T. Pound, 62, of Emory, Texas, was driving a 1985 pickup truck southbound on I-65 when it collided with a Franklin-Simpson Fire and Rescue 2008 International fire engine.

According to KSP, there had been a separate crash immediately south of the fire engine, therefore it had been stopped in the left lane with emergency equipment on.

The Simpson County coroner declared Pound and passenger Ronnie R. Mcenturff, 61, of Emory, Texas, dead at the site.

The collision caused a firefighter who was inside the fire engine to receive treatment for minor wounds.

“All of us at Goodguys are heartbroken by the news of the deaths of our friends Alan Pound and Ronnie McEnturff, who were involved in a tragic accident while driving home to Texas after attending our event in Columbus, Ohio this past weekend. Both men were regulars at Goodguys events around the country and had forged a wide network of friends throughout our industry. We’re grateful for the many laughs and great conversations we had with them, typically shared over a cold beer in a hotel parking lot. These two Goodguys will be dearly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to their families and many friends,” the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association mourn Pound and McEnturff’s death in a statement shared on social media.
