The startling news of Robert Khattar’s assault and death—a 43-year-old homeless man who was the victim of a vicious attack—has left the city of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, reeling.

The city is now shrouded in melancholy as a result of the news.

As the details surrounding this tragedy come to light, detectives are working nonstop to bring the victim’s case to justice, and the public is considering the struggles faced by people who do not have a place to call home.

Tuesday night, at ten o’clock, Robert Khattar was the victim of a brutal assault that left him with severe blunt force injuries and “chopping injuries to his face,” according to Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard’s report.

At the scene, Khattar was pronounced deceased. When the horrific tragedy occurred, Khattar, who was homeless at the time, was sleeping in front of 1526 Plaza Place.

The incident, which seemed to have been planned, went unreported until the next morning, when Khattar’s lifeless body was found shortly after seven in the morning by a bystander.

Despite originally coming from Michigan, Khattar had been residing in Myrtle Beach and was having trouble locating a place to call home.
