In a Facebook post, journalist Rina Jimenez-David’s daughter reported her passing on Sunday morning at the age of 68.

It is with great sadness that we announce the illness-related death of our mother, the unwavering Rina Jimenez David, this morning. Details about the upcoming novena, according to Miya David.

David was a well-known supporter of women’s rights who wrote columns for the Philippine Daily Inquirer (PDI).

After earning her degree in 1976, she worked as the head editor of The Varsitarian, the university’s official student newspaper, from 1975 to 1976.

The seasoned reporter received the TOWNS Award in 2013 and the Global Media Awards’ Best Columnist for Excellence in Population Reporting award in 2004.

David was also honored by Women Deliver, a worldwide advocacy group that defends the rights and well-being of women and girls.

Her book Woman at Large, a compilation of her PDI pieces, is one of her best-known creations.

In 1994, the book advanced to the finals of the Philippine National Book Awards.

Nightmare Journeys: Filipina Sojourns Through the World of Trafficking is another book that she wrote.
