Raphael Dwamena Obituary; Ghanaian Forward Dwamena Passed Away During A Match.

The 13th round Albanian Superliga match between Partizani and Egnatia was postponed with a score of 1-1 following the passing of Raphael Dwamena, the forward for the visiting team.

The 28-year-old striker lost consciousness after collapsing onto the field in the 24th minute of the match. Before the athlete was taken by ambulance, medical staff started helping him right away. A heart attack was the diagnosis. Sadly, Dwamena’s life was not saved, and he died en route to the hospital.

Dwamena has previously suffered a heart attack during a game. A similar incident happened in 2021 during Linz vs. Hartberg’s Austrian Cup match, but the striker was saved at that point.

Dwamena has scored 12 goals in 12 games this season. During the current campaign, he led the Albanian championship in scoring. Additionally, the player took part in eight national team games for Ghana.

“Our thoughts are with the family of Raphael Dwamena at this difficult time. Raphael represented Ghana wholeheartedly and paid his dues to the country until his unfortunate passing. We will forever miss him for his dedication to the National Coarse. Rest In Peace Raphael!,” wrote the GFA on social media.

He started his career with Red Bull Salzburg before later joining Austria Lustenau. He also played for FC Zurich, Levante, Real Zaragoza, Velje Bodklub, BW Linz, and KF Egnatia.
