Ralph Oragwu, D.J. Hayden and Zach McMillian Car Accident: 3 former University of Houston football players identified among 6 killed in downtown Houston crash.
Six people were killed in a horrifying red light crash in downtown Houston early on Saturday, including D.J. Hayden, a former University of Houston football player who survived a near-fatal heart injury.
According to authorities, Zach McMillian and Ralph Oragwu, two more former University of Houston football players, also died in the collision.
According to the Houston Police Department, at around two in the morning, an SUV driver was heading east on Pierce and passed through the junction of Fannin. Moreover, a Chrysler 300 driver was traveling south on Fannin. Officers reported that a motorist ran a red light at that moment while heading south on Fannin.
Four individuals were killed at the crash scene, according to investigators, after both drivers lost control of the SUV and it overturned.
Two more persons passed away at the hospital after four more were brought there. On Saturday morning, one of the female victims is struggling to survive.
Authorities claim that a homeless man was among the deceased victims.
“Our entire community is heartbroken over the tragic passing of former Football student-athletes D.J. Hayden, Zachary McMillian and Ralph Oragwu earlier today, and our thoughts and prayers remain with Jeffery Lewis in his recovery ahead,” Houston Football said in a statement.
