Pratiksha Kunwar Car Accident: Tragedy struck near Cheney as 22-year-old Pratiksha Kunwar lost her life in a devastating car crash, according to the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office.

The unfortunate incident occurred when Kunwar was a passenger in a 2012 Nissan Sentra, which was being driven by a 22-year-old foreign exchange student. A harrowing moment unfolded when the driver failed to obey a stop sign, leading to a collision with a 1999 Chevy Tahoe heading north on 391st Street.

Kunwar’s life was tragically cut short, with her being pronounced dead at the hospital approximately an hour after the crash. Fortunately, two other passengers in the car received immediate treatment at the scene.

The driver of the Chevy Tahoe, along with two young passengers aged 2 and 3, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office has assured the public that all individuals involved in the accident were wearing seat belts and there were no indications of intoxication.

In a Sunday update, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the heartbreaking loss of one life in a crash southeast of Cheney Lake.

Sergeant Michael Guthrie of the sheriff’s office provided details, explaining that the tragic incident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. near the intersection of 391st Street West and 21st Street North. According to Guthrie, the Nissan’s driver disregarded a stop sign on 21st Street for reasons yet to be determined. As a result, the Chevy Tahoe, travelling north on 391st Street, collided with the Nissan.

Guthrie disclosed that four individuals were inside the ill-fated Nissan, with both the driver and the front-seat passenger being rushed to the hospital. Regrettably, the passenger succumbed to their injuries.

The three occupants of the Chevy Tahoe sustained minor injuries, adding to the tragic toll of this incident.

Sedgwick County dispatch further confirmed that two people sustained serious injuries, while one person suffered minor injuries in the aftermath of the crash that unfolded southeast of Cheney Lake.

The emergency call was received shortly after 7 p.m. near the intersection of 391st Street West and 21st Street North, prompting a response from 12 News, whose team is en route to the scene to gather additional information.
