Officer Jorge Pastore Obituary: Texas Police Officer killed Saturday morning in South Austin shooting identified.

Officer Jorge Pastore is now identified as the officer that was shot and killed on Saturday morning during a hostage scenario.

Officer Pastore joined the APD in June 2019 and was commissioned as an Austin police officer in January 2020. Throughout his career, he has held a number of positions, such as SWAT Gold Team member and member of the Honor Guard.

The gunfire started early on Saturday morning on the 9300 block of Bernoulli Drive. At 2:29 a.m., a lady called the police to report that she was being stabbed.

A third victim managed to flee the house with injuries, while the other two victims were discovered inside the house with the suspect and were confirmed dead at the spot.

At 4:15 a.m., the shootout started, and the SWAT squad was dispatched at 3:06 a.m.

There are presently two APD investigations looking into the incident. The condition of the other injured officer is still stable at Dell Seton Medical Center.

Sir, we’ll take it from here,” Interim Chief of Police Robin Henderson wrote in a Facebook post. “Thanks for all the prayers & thoughts. Continue to keep the Pastore family and our second Officer injured in your prayers.”
