Mutulu Shakur Early Life
Jeral Wayne Williams, commonly known as Mutulu Shakur, was born on August 8, 1950, in Baltimore, Maryland. At the age of seven, he moved to Jamaica, Queens, New York City, where he lived with his blind mother and younger sister.
He wed Afeni Shakur in 1975, who would go on to become Tupac Shakur’s mother.
Sekyiwa was their daughter, but they got divorced in 1982. In October 2019, he submitted an application for compassionate release in an effort to have his sentence reduced, but was once again rejected.
But in June 2022, it was revealed that he had bone marrow cancer that was fatal, and he was given a six-month prognosis.
Mutulu Shakur Profession
Mutulu was regarded as an American activist, the stepfather of well-known rapper Tupac, and a former Black Liberation Army soldier.
A guard and two police officers died during the heist of a Brinks armored truck in 1981, and he was sentenced to sixty years in jail as a result.
Shakur actively involved in political activities while still a teenager, including the Revolutionary Action Movement (RAM), and later joined the Republic of New Afrika, a black separatist movement.
Shakur was granted parole by the US Parole Commission on November 10, 2022, and it became effective on December 16 of that same year. The commission agreed that Shakur’s terminal illness removed the worry that he would pose a threat to commit another crime.
