Mary Theresa Hodge, a beloved member and lifelong citizen of St. Lawrence, passed away in the United States Memorial Health Center on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at the age of 67.
The community is in grief. Mary passed away peacefully in the company of her devoted family after a courageous and resilient fight with cancer.
Mary has left a happy legacy that attests to her well-lived life and her enormous influence on everyone in her vicinity.
Her children Arnessa (Brent), Dawn (Terry), and Bradley (Kerry); her devoted husband William Mavin of Fortune; and her cherished grandkids, who were the joy of her life, survive her.
The warmth Mary offered to her brothers, sisters, in-laws, nieces, and large group of friends will be greatly missed by Mary’s extended family.
Mary’s resilience in the face of bereavement served as an example to everyone who knew her. She was predeceased by her first husband, Arnold, her son Paul, and numerous other close family members.
Her life’s journey was marked by love, resiliency, and an unrelenting dedication to her community and family.
Mary was happy and relieved to have visits from close friends and family members during her sickness, since they offered her company and laughter at trying moments.
To Sharon, Rita, and Martha, the family sincerely thanks you for your friendship and support; it meant the world to Mary.
The family would also like to thank Wendy, the community nurse, whose assistance was vital in Mary’s last days, and the nurses and staff of the palliative unit at US Memorial Health Center for their outstanding care and compassion.
As per Mary’s desires, the cremation process has occurred.

To commemorate Mary’s generosity and compassion, the family proposes that donations be made in her name instead of flowers.
