Martha L. Carlino Obituary News; Beloved Martha Lydia Carlino Passed Away At 91

Martha Lydia Carlino (née De Lara), 91, of Joliet died peacefully at Trustwell Living on December 12, 2023.

She was the first child of the Rev. Castulo and Anna (Tomboly) De Lara and was born in Joliet, IL, on April 29, 1932. She grew up in Pueblo, CO, and Kansas City, KS, before returning to Joliet Martha attended Joliet Junior College after graduating from Joliet Township High.

She met, fell in love, and married her “across the street neighbor” Joseph Carlino on May 23, 1951, at St. Peter Lutheran Church. They lived 71 happy, faithful Christian years until his death on June 25, 2022.

The W. T. Grant Company in Joliet employed Martha as office manager and personnel director for 28 years, which she adored. She worked at Lockport-based Georgia-Pacific Corporation and Plainfield-based United Distillers Manufacturing.

After accepting Jesus Christ as her Savior at a young age, she has been a loyal member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Joliet since 1949 and participated in numerous church activities.

Martha and Joe liked going to restaurants, traveling, making pottery, and having family and friend gatherings.

Martha is survived by her three brothers, Philip (special friend, Jan) De Lara, Daniel De Lara, and Joseph (Janice Brassal) De Lara; her four sisters, Marian (the late Louis) Pangrazio, Anita De Lara, Rebecca (Joseph) Briske, and Elizabeth (Joseph) Yedinak; her brother-in-law Paul (Ellen) Carlino; and 13 nephews, seven nieces, and many great-

Her husband, Joseph; her parents, Anna and Rev. Castulo; two brothers, John (Norma) Bardi and Daniel, in infancy; her husband’s parents, Joseph and Ann Carlino; and several nieces and nephews predeceased her.

Martha Carlino will lie-in-state at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 301 N. Broadway Street, Joliet, IL, from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral at 12:00 noon. Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery will hold burial.
