Mark Knutson Fargo Marathon Obituary News: Director of Fargo Marathon and manager of Detroit Mountain killed in two-vehicle collision Detroit Lakes.

On South Shore Drive in Detroit Lakes, a pickup truck towing a boat on a trailer struck the bicycle a man from Detroit Lakes was riding, killing him instantly.

Just after 7 a.m., Mark Knutson, 53, was struck by the westbound pickup truck towing the boat when he was riding his bicycle westbound on the 1100 block of South Shore Drive, just west of the intersection with Muir Lane.

Knutson received life-saving treatment on the spot, and the Detroit Lakes Police Department reports that he was flown by Life Link III Helicopter to Sanford Hospital in Fargo, where he passed away.

Jacob Grabowski, a 42-year-old Fargo resident, was the pickup truck’s driver. Although no charges have been brought, the inquiry is still ongoing.

Since October of 2022, Knutson has served as general manager of Detroit Mountain Recreation Area. He is best known as the executive director of the Fargo Marathon.
