The community of Niagara Falls, Ontario is in mourning for Marcus Wybrow, a former student of Thompson Rivers University.

Marcus was an avid explorer whose life was sadly cut short in an avalanche tragedy in Kananaskis Country.

His tragic death was confirmed by a somber Facebook post warning outdoor enthusiasts to consider avalanche threats when planning their trips, even in the early part of the season.

Prospecting and perfecting new routes on the intimidating faces of this massive granite monolith took many hours.

Beyond the difficulties he faced physically, Marcus’s unwavering quest to explore previously unexplored ground betrayed a deep desire to expand the boundaries of what is possible vertically.

Marcus, who focused on guiding and teaching skills while completing Thompson Rivers University’s Adventure Guide Diploma program, set the academic groundwork for his ambitious objective of earning the esteemed ACMG Mountain Guide certification.

Marcus used Squamish, with its wide variety of climbing options, as the backdrop for his creative route construction methods.
