Marc Hansen Obituary – Death: Longest-Serving Montgomery County Attorney, Marc Hansen Passes Away
Marc Hansen Obituary News: Marc Hansen, who had previously served as an attorney for Montgomery County, died on Sunday, according to a statement made public by Marc Elrich, the County Executive.
After spending the past 37 years working for the Office of the County Attorney, Hansen made the decision to retire early in January 2022.
His ultimate position in the company was that of County Attorney, which he held for a total of 12 years. He holds the record for the longest tenure as county attorney in history.
“Over the course of nearly four decades, numerous County Executives, dozens of County Councilmembers, and thousands of County colleagues relied on his advice and guidance,” Elrich said in the release.
Elrich claims that a number of the lawyers Hansen trained and coached went on to work for the federal government or as judges after receiving their legal education from Hansen.
In addition to giving the county the essential legal assistance during the COVID-19 outbreak, Hansen’s work also helped to keep the county’s citizens safe.
In a previous life, Hansen served as the mayor of Washington Grove and a professor at the law school of the George Washington University. He served in both of these capacities when he was at Washington Grove.
“Our thoughts are with his wife, their children, and all of his friends and former coworkers who will miss him greatly,” Elrich added in the statement. “All of us will miss him terribly,”
