Lofty Maki Death News: Following an examination by the authorities, it was determined that the body discovered by hunters in April in the Kaingaroa Forest was indeed a missing Murupara man.

Lofty Maki, 63, of Murupara, was recognized as the man who’d gone missing on December 9, 2022, according to his relatives.

After spending the previous three days with his sister in Murupara, he vanished. He had previously informed his sister of his intention to travel to Rotorua on that particular day.

What happened to Lofty Maki?
He left his sister’s house in a white Suzuki Grand Vitara, drove to the Rotorua Pak’nSave, and then returned home for an unknown period of time, according to a report that was submitted to the police in February. On the evening of December 9, Maki’s location were reported as missing, and his subsequent course was unknown.

According to a statement issued by the police today, DNA testing on the bones found by hunters in April took three months to provide a result that confirmed it was him.

Maki’s immediate family members took part in the procedure. The Coroner was given the investigation. The disappearance was thoroughly investigated, according to the police.

The Kaingaroa Forest is located in the Bay of Plenty, halfway between Rotorua and Murupara.
