Lance Levie Obituary News: Authorities identify man shot dead by Ouachita Parish deputy in Monroe.
Lance Levie was the man shot on Tuesday by an Ouachita Parish deputy, according to confirmation from investigators with the Northeast Louisiana Sheriff’s Investigative Unit.
On Tuesday, the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office was contacted to do a welfare check at a Monroe home located on Ray Drive. When deputies arrived, they found Levie allegedly carrying a handmade firebomb, a huge knife, and a gun.
According to reports, Levie started threatening deputies repeatedly while speaking with authorities. Levie is accused of lighting the combustible explosive device he was holding in spite of attempts to defuse the situation.
Deputies shot Levie with their firearm, killing him, according to a press release from the Northeast Louisiana Sheriff’s Investigative Unit. The home was cleared by the Monroe Police Department Bomb Squad, and it was reported that other explosive devices were found by the authorities.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing. After the case is finished, it will be given to the Office of the Fourth Judicial District Attorney for evaluation.
