Victim identified dead on Highway 65 and I-44

According to an online obituary, it was said that Jennifer Saylor Bryant dead as a result of injury sustained during the tragic accident.

Bashir Mohamed, 32, was driving a semi-trailer truck when it crossed the center median and collided with Jennifer Bryant, 45, who died as a result.
In 2024, this was the first deadly traffic accident in Springfield.

Springfield police responded to a multi-vehicle collision on I-44 near the Glenstone exit at 3:22 p.m. on January 5, 2024.

On I-44 heading west, Bashir Mohamed, 32, of Minneapolis, was operating a white semi-trailer truck. Mohamed over the guard rail and cable barrier and exited the road into the median immediately west of US65. Mohamed collided with a 2006 Freightliner and a 2022 Toyota Sienna being driven by Springfield resident Jennifer Bryant, 45.
Bryant passed away right away. The family of Bryant has been informed.

Mohamed’s injuries were not life-threatening, so he and his passenger were taken to the hospital. Minor injuries were sustained by the Freightliner’s driver.

The inquiry into the crash’s circumstances is currently ongoing.

In addition to being a long-time science teacher at Hillcrest High School, Jennifer is married and has four kids.
