James Bryan and Tennie Decker Keeton were the parents of James, who was born in Monticello, Kentucky, on May 6, 1937. His life would be filled with many events and relationships because of his strong roots in Kentucky’s soil.

James has always had a strong love for the great outdoors. He was a retired carpet installer who found happiness and comfort in the embrace of nature. James felt his greatest feeling of contentment and serenity in the beauty of the natural world, whether he was fishing or hunting coon. He enjoyed traveling through the forests in search of wildlife.

James had an unbridled spirit of adventure and was a cowboy at heart. He had experienced the thrill of bull riding as a young man, and he embodied the bravery and determination that define the cowboy way of life. He was excited to watch acts of skill and courage during rodeo competitions because he loved the rush of adrenaline that these events provided.
