James Gordon Goins Sr Obituary News: Former Air Force Man James Gordon Goins Sr Passes Away

James Gordon Goins Sr., 91, of Tuscumbia, AL found his peace and comfort on January 4, 2024. He was born December 31, 1932 to Joe and Sally Goins.

Gordon, who was known as Pop to those closest to him, had a full life. He was an extremely diligent man. In 1951, he enlisted in the Air Force, serving with pride for four years during which he discovered his passion for travel.

After receiving an honorable discharge in 1955, he went back home to raise his three children and eventually met Christene, whom he affectionately called Chris.

He did a bit of everything over his life: he built houses, built chicken houses, traded at flea markets, and eventually opened L&R Grocery with Chris, Larry, and Regina. Gordon enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren.

He was always more than happy to teach them how to make things, fish, hunt, ski, tube, garden, or pretty much anything else they showed an interest in.

He was still shooting baskets with the kids well into his 70s. Gordon had the ability to create anything, fix anything, and generally make things happen for us. After retiring, he and Chris made the most of their passion of travel. After he purchased an RV, they set out to explore every corner of the United States, spending the winters in Florida, taking three-month trips to Alaska and Canada, and stopping at every mountain range and fishing area they could discover. And now that they are back together in paradise, we can only speculate about what they see there.
