Jackson Garton Car Accident: Carroll High School student killed in Saturday car accident on Coldwater Road.
The collision that claimed the life of a Carroll High School student is being investigated by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.
The collision occurred close to the intersection of Watervale Cove and Coldwater Road.
According to reports, around 10:30 on Saturday night, the crash was reported to the police. Based on an initial inquiry, an SUV was traveling north on Coldwater when Garton’s southbound vehicle abruptly veered into the path of the SUV for an unidentified reason, according to Sgt. Adam Griffith of the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.
The vehicle and the SUV crashed, according to Sgt. Griffith. At the site, medics declared Garton deceased. With only minor wounds, the SUV’s driver was taken to a hospital by medical personnel.
According to Sgt. Griffith, there were no injuries to the SUV’s passenger.
“Northwest Allen County Schools has officially notified our school community this evening about the unfortunate passing of one of our students, Jackson Garton, on Saturday, November 11, 2023,” Northwest Allen County Schools spokeswoman said in a statement release. “We understand the significance of such news and its impact on the broader community. As an institution committed to transparency and communication, we wanted to ensure that our students, faculty, and staff were informed in a timely and compassionate manner.”
