In the Las Colinas area, the Irving Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into a tragic accident resulting in a fatality.
In a prompt response, Irving Fire/EMS and Police swiftly arrived at the scene of a single vehicle crash on Spur 348/Northwest Highway near Las Colinas Blvd, occurring at approximately 3:30pm on Sunday, August 20.
According to authorities, a vehicle was reportedly travelling in a westbound direction when the driver allegedly struck a guardrail, resulting in a collision with a power pole located off the roadway. In a dramatic turn of events, a collision occurred, resulting in a powerful impact that caused a power pole to snap. The force of the collision was so intense that it ignited a fire, which quickly spread to the power lines, intensifying the situation. In a tragic turn of events, the driver found themselves trapped inside the wreckage of their vehicle, unable to make a daring escape.
A portion of Las Colinas experienced a prolonged power outage that lasted for several hours, causing inconvenience and disruption to the affected area. However, relief came when power was eventually restored, bringing an end to the ordeal.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
