Erie, PA Deadly Shooting; 18 Year Old Fatally Shot In Erie, Shemek Clements, 2 others Charged With Involuntary Manslaughter
A tragic event that took place on Tuesday in the City of Erie resulted in the death of an 18-year-old boy, which caused shockwaves to spread across the town.
A juvenile named Shemek Clements, who was 17 years old at the time, was charged with involuntary manslaughter and many other felonies by the Erie Police Department, which moved fast to take action.
There will be two more adolescents, both of whom are 17 years old, who will be charged with offenses relating to firearms.
Involuntary manslaughter, two counts of aggravated assault, firearms violations, possession of an instrument of crime, and reckless endangerment are some of the allegations that have been brought against Shemek Clements, who is now considered an adult.
In the meantime, the authorities have informed us that the two other adolescents will be charged with offenses relating to weapons for their involvement in the incident.
Following reports of a gunshot that took place at a property located in the 400 block of Lighthouse Street, law enforcement officers arrived on the scene at approximately 9:30 p.m. to investigate the unfortunate event.
When the cops arrived at the site, they found a male victim who was 18 years old and had been shot with a gunshot wound to the neck. The young man suffered fatal injuries, and despite the fast reaction from emergency personnel, he did not survive his injuries.
A gunshot wound to the neck was formally determined to be the cause of death after an autopsy was performed on Wednesday by Lyell Cook, who is the coroner for Erie County with jurisdiction over the case.
As of late Wednesday afternoon, the identity of the victim had not been announced, which added an additional layer of sorrow to a situation that was already quite distressing.
The seriousness of the accusations that have been brought against Clements highlights the gravity of the situation, which in turn raises questions about the various circumstances that led up to the tragic shooting accident.
