Émile Missing: A two-year-old toddler vanished from his grandparents’ home, sparking a major search effort in rural France.
The kid, known only by his first name Émile, vanished from the sleepy village of Vernet in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence on Saturday, sparking a search that started on Monday.
The little hamlet, which is located north of Nice, has only about 20 homes.
The small child is thought to have been spending the holidays with his grandparents when he vanished as his family was getting ready to depart the house.
The child was gone when his grandparents went to get him so they could put him in the car.
At 5.15 p.m. local time, they raised the alarm, and a sizable search force was promptly assembled by the neighborhood.
Since then, more than 100 firefighters and police officers have been called into service for the search.
Sniffing dogs, aircraft, drones, and thermal imaging cameras have all been used by the authorities in the search.

When the boy’s grandparents went seeking for him to get him into the car, he was nowhere to be found.
They raised the alarm at 5:15 local time, and the neighborhood instantly formed a big search team in response. Since then, more than 100 members of law enforcement and firefighters have been dispatched to help with the search.
