Ciaran is the senior sibling of Boyzone member and Irish musician Ronan Keating. On Saturday afternoon, July 15, 2023, an accident on the N5 close to Swinford, County Mayo, resulted in his death.
What Happened to Ciaran Keating?
Ciaran Keating, a resident of Westport in his fifties, is thought to have travelled with his wife Ann Marie to watch their son Ruairi play for Cork City FC in a Premier Division League of Ireland game against Sligo Rovers in the evening.
In the town of Ballymiles, which lies halfway between Swinford and Bohola, he was killed in a two-car incident. His wife Ann Marie, a secondary school teacher, was taken to Mayo University Hospital for treatment of injuries that are not expected to be life-threatening.
The male driver of the second vehicle has serious injuries that are being treated in a hospital. The second car’s male passenger was also taken to the hospital. Ciaran Keating’s demise is mourned by many in his adoptive Westport and the surrounding area.
In addition to his own family and Ronan, Ciaran is survived by one sister, Linda, and two brothers, Gerard and Gary.
In the village of Lecanvey, around four miles from Westport, Ciaran had worked in the licensed bar sector. Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have conducted a technical examination of the accident site and the vehicles involved.
The Mayo coroner will be notified, and a postmortem will be carried out. The family of Irish musician, composer, and television and radio host Ronan Keating, who lost his older brother Ciaran Keating in a car accident, has received condolences.
