Charles Henry Crumpler Obituary News: 51-year-old Summerville man identified as victim in homicide at Summer Wind Apartments.
Following an incident at Summer Wind Apartments, 1001 Linger Longer Drive in Summerville, on Thursday, November 9, one person is dead and another is in custody.
On Friday, November 10, Dorchester County Coroner Paul Brouthers declared that the deceased individual was Summerville resident Charles Henry Crumpler, 51. Crumpler got into an argument in the apartment building. He was taken by EMS to Trident Medical Center at around 8:10 p.m. in order to receive treatment.
At 9:21 p.m., Crumpler was pronounced deceased, authorities confirmed.
On Monday, November 13, at 8:30 a.m., the Medical University of South Carolina will perform an autopsy on the body.
The investigations are being conducted by the coroner’s office and the sheriff’s office in Dorchester County.
Residents alerted Dorchester Consolidated Dispatch to a disturbance at the apartment complex at 8:13 p.m. on Thursday, November 9, according to Lt. Rick Carson of the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office. As they responded to the report, many Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office units were informed that the incident had become physical.
One person with serious injuries was found on the ground by deputies as they arrived at the site. After being taken to a nearby hospital, he passed away from those wounds. Based on information from witnesses, patrol officers arrested one suspect.
The investigation was taken over by units from the criminal investigation division and crime scene section of the sheriff’s office.
According to Carson, there was no threat to the neighborhood.
