An online obituary announced the sudden death of Ed Machado of Herald, California from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on Friday, February 16, 2024.
Ed leaves behind family, friends and many who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
“Dear all friends and family. This is Ed Machado’s nephew, Blake. It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that I must inform you tonight of the passing of my uncle. We lost a good friend, uncle and brother early on the morning of Friday February 16th. He died in a tragic car accident in his favorite place on earth in the mountains. We ask for privacy at this time as we process this unexpected tragic event in our lives. But I will ask you one thing, if anyone has a good story or photos of my uncle, past or present, please post them on his timeline so we can remember and honor his memory while we grieve. We love you Uncle Ed. It wasn’t your time, and without you, it’s a pit. Ride high cowboy and spur one down!” Ed’s family announced via a social media post.

“Many who have traveled with us have heard some outrageous stories about our friend Ed Machado. A California cowboy who has lived life on his own terms as a cowboy his entire existence (that’s quite an accomplishment in today’s world). He died last Friday in a tragic accident in the hills he loved doing what he loved most, being a cowboy. Rest in peace our friend, until we meet again, your work here is done. It really stings,” the Facebook post said.
“Very sorry to hear about the death of Ed Machado in a traffic accident. He was a great cowboy and wasn’t afraid to let it be known what he thought about an issue. RIP my friend,” another post read.
