Theodore Anthony Stewart Shooting; Victim Fatally Shot By a Homeowner After Allegedly Attempting To Break Into The Resident’s Home
In Vista, tragedy struck when a homeowner shot and killed a guy who was apparently attempting to break into a home. The victim of this terrible incident, 43-year-old Theodore Anthony Stewart of Vista, was identified on Saturday.
The resident called 911 in the early hours of Thursday, around 5 a.m., after discovering a man in the rear of the home on York Drive near Santa Fe Avenue. Fearing a break-in, the resident notified authorities, expressing significant fears about the intruder’s intentions.
In a tense turn of events relayed to dispatchers while still in contact with the Sheriff’s Department, the resident stated that the intruder had gained entry into the home through a window, causing more tension. A single gunshot was then heard when the resident took action.
Deputies arrived on the site quickly after receiving the distress call to discover Theodore Anthony Stewart gravely injured. Despite the efforts of deputies and paramedics, Stewart died from his injuries after being brought to a hospital.
Lieutenant Joseph Jarjura stressed the preliminary nature of the probe, saying, “We are still in the early stages of this investigation and have yet to ascertain all of the details surrounding this incident.
