This week, the lifeless corpse of a transgender woman who had been reported missing in South Carolina was discovered, and her family is challenging the initial findings from the police that said there was no indication of any foul play in her death.
On November 8, the 20-year-old resident of Mullins, Shandon Floyd, was last seen in the city of Columbia. According to statements made by Floyd’s mother to the local affiliate news outlet her daughter was in town to see a football game and was sleeping at a local Roadway Inn with a group of pals. Reportedly, she was last seen at 3 in the morning after she had borrowed a car from a friend in order to take a male member of the group to a store.
The video footage showed the couple leave the business, but the woman was never seen or heard from again, according to the police.
The next day, Amecil Floyd, Floyd’s mother, filed a report with the authorities stating that her daughter was missing. On Tuesday, November 14, just a few minutes after midnight, the body of Shandon was discovered by authorities inside a vacant house in the north of Richland County. The police have stated that there is now no basis for them to assume that there was any kind of foul play, but they are awaiting the results of an autopsy.
The family of Floyd, on the other hand, is convinced that she was a victim of both a murder and a hate crime when she passed away.
“Shandon was a very fun person, life of the party, kindhearted, would give you the shirt off her back,” Mason Powell, a close friend reported “When I met her, she was like a light. She was definitely the friend to get to know and the person to be around if you want to have a great time. And, you know, she loved her family and her brothers. She definitely loved them.”
