Ocala Motorcycle Accident: Motorcyclist dead after Wednesday crash involving Marion County government vehicle on County Road 314.

One person was killed and two others were hospitalized Wednesday afternoon when a Marion County government vehicle collided with a motorcycle on County Road 314.

The crash happened at Northeast 112th Avenue and CR 314.

According to Marion County Fire Rescue spokesman James Lucas, officers responded to the call at 2:17 p.m. and arrived at 2:27 p.m. The victim was pronounced deceased at 2:30 p.m.

An older model Harley-Davidson motorbike was travelling east on CR 314 as it approached a sharp curve, according to Florida Highway Patrol officials. On the same road, a van belonging to Marion County Public Works was travelling west.

According to troopers, the cyclist veered into the oncoming lane. The van’s driver attempted to swerve to avoid the impact, but to no avail. The cars struck each other.

There were five individuals in the county van, according to the authorities, including the 62-year-old driver. According to authorities, two of them had major injuries and were sent to a nearby hospital.

The motorcyclist passed away instantly.

Two-lane road was blocked by sheriff’s deputies so that troopers could conduct an investigation.
