Rumford Maine Fatal Shooting: Active Shooter, Police Respond to Shooting in Rumford

Rumford Maine Fatal Shooting: Police are on the scene of a shooting in Rumford Monday night.

According to Oxford County dispatch, shots were fired across from the Rumford Police Department around 9 p.m.

The incident occurred on River Street, the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office said.

Residents are being asked to avoid the area while crews respond to the scene.

There is currently no threat to the public at this time, according to the Rumford Police Department. Traffic will be closed in the area for several hours.

A Hotel Rumford employee told News Centre Maine he believes one person was shot in the incident. He said approximately 12 police vehicles were present.
