Mercer Island Car Accident: 3 Killed in Wrong-Way I-90 Crash on Mercer Island

Mercer Island Car Accident: Three people were killed in a two-car crash involving a wrong-way driver on Mercer Island overnight.

The crash happened on eastbound Interstate 90 just past Island Crest Way at around midnight Sunday.

The wrong-way driver and the two people who were in the second car were killed, according to Trooper Rick Johnson.

Troopers say the wrong-way driver was a 30-year-old Seattle man who was heading west in the eastbound lanes. He hit the victims’ car head-on, killing its driver, a 22-year-old Bellevue man, and his passenger, a 23-year-old from California.

All eastbound lanes were blocked. All lanes were back open by 5:30 a.m.
