The Barre man who was recently arrested on drug-related charges has been identified as the deceased person discovered shot in Plainfield.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Gore Road property owners discovered a body, according to Vermont State Police. Following an autopsy, authorities said that Jeffrey Caron, 42, of Barre, has been identified as the deceased.

According to the police, Caron’s death was officially declared a homicide because it was found that he had been shot. Police have not released Caron’s exact death date, although reports indicate that Caron was shot in the torso. The public is not in danger, according to the police, who believe this to be an isolated incident.

According to the police, there is no connection between this crime and the other homicides that have been reported in the state lately. As of Monday afternoon, no one was in jail for the killing of Caron, and the inquiry is still underway.

A recent news release from the Barre City police included Caron’s name.

Following the execution of a search warrant at North Barre Manor as part of a drug investigation, he and Jonie Dee Bresett were discovered inside.

Bresett was taken to court right away, while Caron was given a citation to appear in court in November to address the accusations. According to the police, both Bresett and Caron received citations for similar offences. Caron was cited and released because, at the time of his discovery, the amount of drugs he had was just a misdemeanour, according to an email from Barre City Police Chief Braedon “Brad” Vail on Monday.

However, testing revealed that the pill contained fentanyl, which is why the extra charges were added after the fact, according to Vail.

It doesn’t seem like the state has filed a case against Caron yet. On Monday, court employees announced that Caron had no active cases in the system.
