Isaiah J. Thompson Arrested: Police ID Teen Suspect Wanted for Attempted Murder, Car Theft in Seaside
Isaiah J. Thompson was arrested; police continue to search for a suspect accused of attacking someone and stealing their vehicle, a Ford Mustang, in Seaside early Friday morning. The suspect led police on a high-speed chase in the stolen Mustang, crashed it in Hillsboro and escaped on foot.
The victim is hospitalised in critical condition.
Seaside police identified the suspect Saturday morning as 18-year-old Isaiah J. Thompson. Police described Thompson as transient and said he doesn’t have a listed residence. Police said they have probable cause to arrest Thompson on charges of second-degree attempted murder, unlawful use of a weapon, first-degree robbery, unauthorised use of a vehicle, eluding police and reckless driving.
A person in Seaside called 911 around 12:20 a.m. to report they’d been attacked and their Ford Mustang had been stolen. As police responded to the scene near Ninth Avenue and North Prom, a Cannon Beach police officer spotted the stolen Mustang south of Seaside and chased it, but the driver didn’t stop, according to the city of Seaside. The officer lost sight of the stolen car as it sped away on Highway 26.
A Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputy spotted the stolen car near the intersection of Highway 47 and tried to chase it. The suspect drove at speeds of more than 100 mph coming into the county, the city of Seaside said. He drove southbound on Northwest Glencoe Road in Hillsboro and crashed, “becoming airborne briefly” at the intersection with Northeast Shannon Street, according to the city of Seaside. The suspect got out of the car and ran away.
Law enforcement from the Beaverton Police Department, the Hillsboro Police Department and the Tigard Police Department joined in the search for the suspect. Three dog teams and two drones also assisted.
The victim was taken to Columbia Memorial Hospital in Astoria in critical condition, according to the city of Seaside.

Court records show Thompson is also accused of stealing a car and running from police in Multnomah County. He pleaded not guilty on October 18th and is due back in court the first week of December.
