On Monday, September 4, 2023, Lincoln Park High School announced the passing of recently retired teacher, Matthew Carey in a statement shared on social media.

“It is with a heavy heart and a lowered head that I write to you informing that one of our recently retired teachers has passed away. Matthew Carey will always be remembered as a teacher that loved his family, his students, and his profession. LPHS students will always be indebted to his mentorship and inspiring lessons. Mr. Matthew Carey has made an everlasting mark on our LPHS Family and will never be forgotten,” Lincoln Park High School principal, Mr. Matthew Kaminski said in the statement.

“This news has impacted so many of us that knew Mr. Carey. As a result, we will have our grief response team available for anyone that may need some assistance. If there is anything I can do for you, please let me know.”
