Gisel Zavala Obituary Brownsville, TX: In loving memory of 24-year-old woman killed in solo Brownsville crash.
The Brownsville Police Department confirmed the death of a woman following a single-vehicle crash in Brownsville early Wednesday.
According to the department, at about 1:30 a.m., officers responded to the 2900 block of W. Alton Gloor Blvd. for a single-vehicle accident.
Upon officers arrival at the scene, 24-year-old Stacy Gisel Zavala was pronounced dead as a result of the crash.
According to police, preliminary investigation revealed that a gray 2012 GMC Terrain driven by Zavala was traveling westbound on Alton Gloor Blvd. “For reasons still under investigation, Zavala failed to maintain control of the vehicle,” police said.
In a dramatic turn of events, the vehicle careened into an embankment, resulting in a harrowing rollover. The impact was so forceful that it subsequently collided with an electrical pole and a sturdy fence.
According to police, it remains unclear whether speed or alcohol played a role in the crash. The autopsy and toxicology results are currently pending.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
