Ingrid Willemsen Obituary; Longtime Sarnia, Ontario, Resident Who Passed Away

The news of Ingrid’s passing is heartbreaking to us; she was a beloved daughter, sister, friend, mother, and wife. Everyone who knew and loved her has been left with a gaping hole in their hearts as a result of her premature death. Ingrid passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023, at the age of 58. She left behind a legacy and memories that will always be cherished.

Ingrid entered the world on July 4, 1965, and she quickly left her mark. She was a wonderful woman whose zest for life influenced everyone in her vicinity. Her endless creativity, compassionate demeanor, and devotion to her loved ones were reflected in all the time she spent in the kitchen, garden, or knitting.
Anyone who had the pleasure of tasting Ingrid’s delectable dishes could attest to her talent as a chef. Along with preparing delicious dishes, she also enjoyed spending time with her loved ones in the coziness of her kitchen.

Ingrid grew up on a farm in the Ohio town of Amherst. She ran her family’s farm market until she ran across her future husband Will in 1990 at a farm market convention in Dayton, Ohio. The three Sunripe companies owned by Ingrid and Will are important fixtures in their communities. For Sunripe, Ingrid has created hundreds of delectable recipes. Over twenty European exchange students and scores of other staff members looked up to her as a role model. Several of Ingrid’s staff members were given career jumpstarts thanks to her simple management style and sincere approach.

Bill, Ingrid’s father, died unexpectedly in 1991 at the age of 61.
While Ingrid’s passing has left a huge hole in our lives, those whose lives she touched will carry on in memory of her. Her legacy will include the warmth of her knitting and stitching, her love of excellent food, and the beauties of nature she experienced when traveling. As we say our goodbyes, let’s remember Ingrid as a wonderful person who added love, humor, and hard work to our lives. She will always hold a special place in the hearts of everyone who had the good fortune to know her.
