Regretfully, Sarnia, Ontario’s Ingrid Willemsen, owner of SUNRIPE Freshmarket, has gone away. Her family and friends were grieved when she passed away on October 23, 2023, at the age of 58.
A Facebook post titled “Condolences to Will and the Willemsen Family” provided proof that she had passed away. Anyone who had the privilege of being in Ingrid’s company was inspired by her powerful force of nature. It is unknown what specifically caused Ingrid Willemsen to pass away.
Ingrid Willemsen was born on July 4th, 1965. She attended Marion L. Steele High School from 1980 to 1983, when she graduated with a high school diploma. She continued her education at The Ohio State University, where in 1987 she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in the School of Business.
Her family owned and operated a farm market in Amherst, Ohio, where she was raised. Her ties to the land and the market served as a springboard for her ascent. She started a new chapter in her life in 1990 when she met her husband Will at a farm market conference in Dayton, Ohio.
Ingrid and Will worked together to make their mutual dream a reality, growing Sunripe into three successful stores that are now essential components of their local communities. As part of her job, Ingrid used her love of food to create a variety of recipes for Sunripe, pleasing patrons with a mouthwatering selection.
