In a swift response on Sunday afternoon, emergency crews were dispatched to Warren Dunes State Park in Berrien County, where three individuals were reported to be in distress amidst the water.
According to police, three individuals hailing from Illinois were found outside the designated swim area, venturing beyond the buoys. As the situation escalated, they found themselves struggling to stay afloat, on the brink of drowning.
Paramedics successfully rescued a second individual and swiftly transported them to the hospital for urgent medical attention. In a remarkable display of resilience, the third individual successfully emerged from the water unassisted.
According to a woman in close proximity who assisted the emergency team, she expressed her belief that this unfortunate incident could have been avoided.
