In a tragic incident, a Wilkes County firefighter reportedly shot and killed another firefighter before turning the gun on himself. The shooting, which occurred under circumstances yet to be fully understood, has left the community in shock and mourning.
In a recent incident, Wilkes County deputies swiftly took action on Tuesday evening at approximately 7:45 p.m. The incident occurred in the 400 block on Caudill Road, located in North Wilkesboro, and was reported as a shooting. The location in question is in close proximity to the intersection of Sparta and Mountain View Roads.
Upon their arrival at the scene, deputies discovered 21-year-old Daniel Long diligently performing CPR on 19-year-old Jenna Boles, who had sustained a gunshot wound. Deputies have taken over medical care, relieving Daniel from performing CPR. Jena has been pronounced dead at the scene.
During the course of their investigation, deputies discovered that Daniel had made repeated statements indicating that he had “accidentally shot her.” In a tragic turn of events, Daniel emerged from his residence and proceeded towards his vehicle.
With a heavy heart, he retrieved a handgun and, in a devastating act, inflicted a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The individual was transported to the hospital, where tragically, they succumbed to their injuries.
