Ifeanyi Chidubem Prince Anyoku Drowning – Death: Alabama international student identified as victim in drowning at Lake Nikol on Saturday.

The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office have now identified the victim of a fatal drowning incident at Lake Nikol Saturday as 18-year-old Ifeanyi Chidubem Prince Anyoku of Port Harcourt, Nigeria, a University of Alabama international student.

Tuscaloosa police, Tuscaloosa Fire and Rescue, and the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office were called to respond to an incident at approximately 5 p.m. on Friday. The incident took place in a specific area of Lake Nicol referred to as The Cliffs.

According to a group of friends, it has been reported that a teenager now identified as Anyoku jumped into the water and has not resurfaced.

According to Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit Capt. Jack Kennedy, investigators have been informed by several witnesses that Anyoku had reportedly leaped into the water from the cliffs using his feet as the point of contact.

In a tragic turn of events, the body of the teenager was discovered on Saturday evening around 7 p.m.

According to Kennedy, there is no suspicion of foul play in Anyoku’s death, as it appears to be accidental.

Investigation is ongoing.
